Province of Rizal is located in CALABARZON region, just 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) east of Manila. The province is named after José Rizal, one of the main national heroes of the Philippines. Rizal is bordered by Metro Manila to the west, Bulacan to the north, Quezon to the east and Laguna to the southeast. The province also lies on the northern shores of Laguna de Bay, the largest lake in the country. Rizal is a mountainous province perched on the western slopes of the southern portion of the Sierra Madre mountain range.
ATTRACTIONS VISITED
1. PILILLA WINDMILL FARM
The wind farm is operated by Alternergy Philippines Holding Corporation. It consists of 27 wind turbine generators covering the 4,515 hectares of land. Pililla is a first class municipality in Rizal and is located in the southern tip of the province which borders Laguna. The wind farm in particular is located on the plains of Barangay Halayhayin which is 300 meters above the sea level.
How to get to Pililla Wind Farm in Rizal:
By Private Transportation (Driving Directions)
If you’re coming from EDSA, drive to Manila East Road through the towns of Taytay, Angono, Binangonan, Cardona, Morong, Baras and Tanay.
Stay on Manila East Road until you make it past Villa Lorenza Resort (should be on your left). At the fork, turn left (the other road is Pililla-Jala-Jala-Pakil Road).
Keep driving until you reach another fork. The entrance should be on your left. You’ll know you’re there when you see a parking lot.
By Public Transportation
From Starmall Mandaluyong (opposite Shangri-la Plaza/Megamall on the other side of EDSA) or Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City, take a van or FX to Tanay Public Market in Sampaloc.
At the market, take a tricycle to Pililla Wind Farm.
2. REGINA RICA (Regina Rosarii Institute for Contemplation in Asia)
Regina RICA is an up and down the hill kind of place. The centerpiece is an iconic 71-foot statue of the Our Lady on Top of the Hill.
Regina RICA started with Sr. Eppie Brasil, OP who founded the Dominican Sisters of Regina Rosarii way back in 1998. The Regina Rosarii Contemplative Association grew over the years and in 2009 they established the Regina Rosarii Institute for Contemplation in Asia (Regina RICA) in Tanay, Rizal which quickly became a popular pilgrimage site.
Shorts and sleeveless are not allowed inside. But don’t worry, they let their visitors borrow skirts and shawl, be sure to bring your ID.
They offer shuttle vans inside the facility that can take you from the gate to the chapel and all the way to the top of the hill and back down again for only 5 pesos.
3. BAKASYUNAN RESORT TANAY
As the name implies, Bakasyunan is an authentic 'vacation place.' Its abundant flora and fauna, its back-to-nature ambience and breathtaking panoramic vista — all have a calming effect on the soul. At Bakasyunan, one gets to harmonize with nature, and to liberate one's spirit . The forest appeal has a strong impression. Its cool climate is a big attraction. Windy mornings make one oblivious to the summer heat.

4. DARANAK WATERFALLS
DARANAK FALLS is one of the main destinations of Tanay and is a popular summer getaway for locals and tourists from in and out of the country.
A favorite location shooting area of most local and international movies and advertising outfits in the country, Daranak Falls nestles calmly at the foot of the Tanay mountains, preserved with the natural vegetation, complemented with enchanting waterfalls, ponds, and rivers cascading through elaborate tropical trees and plants. This 14-meter high falls is truly a refreshing location.
